Purpose and Themes of Event

Purpose of the event: Realization of world peace with a focus on Japan

Significance of holding this conference:

① Contribution to the realization of global peace centered on Japan

② Promotion of student exchange and peacebuilding in the Asia-Pacific region

③ Fostering Japan’s manufacturing, IT, and AI Industries

   Learn from advanced semiconductor and IT regions in Asia, such as Taiwan

   Create new ideas and business opportunities beyond the boundaries of science and humanities

➃ Mutual understanding of business practices and cultural differences between Japan and Taiwan

2025: Theme of the 1st Asia Student Exchange Conference:

・Strengthening Japan-Taiwan relations from political and economic perspectives, and promoting peace in Asia  

・Development of an economic zone and ecosystem centered around Japan’s Kumamoto prefecture and Taiwan  

2026 and beyond: Themes for the 2nd and subsequent Asia Student Exchange Conferences:

・Annual conferences aimed at contributing to global peace through international exchanges  

・Expanding the wave of peace to the Micronesia and regions west of the pacific, focusing on Japan’s role in promoting peace

Co-organizer: Asia Pacific Youth Association (Taichung, Taiwan)

Duration: March 11, 2025 (Tuesday) – March 16, 2025 (Sunday)

Location: Japan (Kumamoto), Taiwan (Taichung/Taipei)

Executive Committee Members: 2-3 from Japan, 2-3 from Taiwan

Total Participants: Approximately 12 from Japan, approximately 12 from Taiwan

Conference Schedule (2025):

March 11 – March 13: Japan (Kumamoto) and travel days  

March 13 – March 14: Taiwan (Taichung)  

March 15 – March 16: Taiwan (Taichung/Taipei)

Participation Fee:  

70,000 JPY (approx. 500 USD)

Due to support from foundations and other sponsors, the financial burden on participants is expected to be significantly reduced.

Includes: Travel, accommodation, meals, and other expenses.

Content of Activities

Overview

The 1st Asia Student Exchange Conference will be held across Japan and Taiwan, with participants visiting Kumamoto, Taichung, and Taipei. The program will include discussions and lectures on political and economic topics, including Japan-Taiwan relations, visits to semiconductor-related factories, and networking events for Japanese and Taiwanese students.

Taiwan (Plenary Session)  

March 11, 2025 (Tuesday): Visit to Kikuyo Town, lecture on semiconductors at Kumamoto Prefectural College of Technology  

March 12, 2025 (Wednesday): Lecture on Japan-Taiwan geopolitics and the ecosystem for fostering IT/semiconductor industries, breakout sessions 

March 13, 2025 (Thursday): Travel to Taichung, networking dinner for Japanese and Taiwanese students

Taiwan (Plenary Session)  

March 14, 2025 (Friday): Visit to Taichung City Government (Vice Mayor, Youth Division), lecture, visit to Taiwanese semiconductor-related companies  

Dinner with Taichung Youth Association, Night Market tour (exploring the bustling food stalls)

March 15, 2025 (Saturday): Site visits in Taichung, lecture, travel to Taipei, visit to Higo Bank Taipei office, breakout sessions for discussion topics, site visits in Taipei

March 16, 2025 (Sunday): Lecture by experts at the governor’s office, breakout sessions, presentations of breakout session results, and site visits in Taipei

Follow-up Activities

The 1st Asia Student Exchange Conference, scheduled for March 2025, will conclude with follow-up activities after the event.

Follow-up Activities Details 

Report: Participants will work together to write a report summarizing the entire conference and its outcomes. The report will be distributed and published, with consideration for participants’ privacy, to those who have supported the conference, and to society.  

Long-term Impact of Conference Outcomes: The perspectives and insights gained during the Asia Student Exchange Conference, as well as the awareness of being responsible individuals shaping society, will be applied in each participant’s future life, contributing to society in the long term.
